We also visit children with disabilities and special needs childcare centers along with therapy and ABA offices.

Why we’re different

Miniature horses have the ability to truly feel what you are feeling. They have a sense of compassion and kindness to them that makes them perfect for therapy work. They can sense when you are sad, lonely, need a smile, or just want some extra snuggles. The need to make you smile and lift your mood is one of the best qualities the miniature horse brings to our visits.

At Lead The Way Equine Therapy, each miniature horse we have has a special personality that is thoughtfully considered when we decide who to bring with us on visits. We always leave visits with more smiles, laughter, and fullness in our hearts than when we arrived.

Our Impact

Lead the Way Equine Therapy is a federally recognized 501(c)(3) organization which enables you to donate and receive the tax benefits. Your generous donation will go entirely towards our mini horses and operational expenses.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you ride the minis?

Unfortunately not! They are too small to ride and not trained to do so. However, many minis can be trained to drive and pull a cart up to 200lbs! If your child wants to experience their visit on horseback, inquire about our larger pony that can be ridden and used for special exercises.

Do you work with therapists to address specific issues my child is having?

Yes! We have partnered with Seaside Therapy who offers PT, OT and speech therapy. We would love for your child to be able to come work alongside our mini horses during their therapy sessions and reach their goals all while enjoying time outside with animals.

Who is welcome to come and visit?

Everyone! We welcome any and all ages, abilities, and skills. Come visit us if you have a child that is a true animal lover and wants to come spend time with the minis. If your child needs to work on specific goals such as following instructions, fine motor skills, or remaining calm around animals we can help reach those goals together!

Do you allow group visits?

Absolutely! We welcome homeschool groups, private groups, large families, camps, and school field trips. We try to limit the number of kids but please inquire about making special arrangements for larger groups.
